    1. Generically, I understand consulting to constitute providing (professional) service to the client(s) in return for fees. This would be understood in the context of the South African consulting industry.

      Technically, consulting requires close engagement with the client – initially during the brief and throughout the engagement. This would ensure that both consultant and client are on the same page, which will make the consulting more effective (as the consultant & client will become a part of the solution) and create a closer relationship between the parties, which is vital for an enduring business relationship.
